If you like to be in water and you like to play catch with a ball, you’ll love water polo! The La Jolla Water Polo Club is looking for kids who want to have fun in the water and learn how to play this great game. No experience needed. If you can swim, you can learn to play water polo. We offer a full range of programs from beginning level (using the shallow end of the pool) to our athletes who are competing in national tournaments; there is something for every ability level. Come to the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex pool and join in a practice to see if you might like to play.

Coaches for the boys are Joseph Cavaiola (LJHS water polo coach) and Tom Martinez. Head Coach of the club and head coach of the La Jolla High School water polo teams is Tom Atwell. Separate pool membership is required through the Coggan pool. If you have any questions about the club, please see a coach on the pool deck.

Getting started is relatively simple. Equipment is minimal- start with a swim suit and goggles, then just add water. The club provides all the other equipment and tools necessary to develop your child into a healthy, well-conditioned water polo player, in an enjoyable, educational and rigorous setting.

Dear Parents,

Important information on the summer schedule below.
Since we are not yet sure which team each boy will be on- so use the info that applies to your family.

The cost for summer polo is $500.00.  This includes all training/scrimmages (five sessions a week), all games and tournaments (except for JO's which will have a separate fee of $100.00).  We know the cost has gone up but all of our operating costs have gone up as well, especially tournament fees and referee fees.  The training group rosters will be sent out once we have determined who is committed to playing.  We are asking each athlete to pay a $100.00 deposit by May 10 so we can figure out what our staffing needs are to make sure we have a proper coach to athlete ratio.  We have several college players who are home for the summer and want to work with our athletes but we cannot promise them work until we know our numbers. We cannot pro-rate fees based on each families travel plans.  No other club (i.e. Shores, Nomads Soccer or Coast Volleyball) does this.
